Art made for you

The Stacks project is a mixed media format exploring the ideas of symmetry, depth and shadow. These ideas have been with me for years and are now finding their expression. I have used similar design concepts for years in paint and vinyl work but with the added dimension of the form, so many possibilities opened in front of my eyes.

 

All of the frames are milled from locally sourced red oak that my wife and I used to top a bridge more than 10 years ago. A few years ago that bridge was heavily damaged in a flood and I reclaimed as much of the oak as possible. Those large timbers are now the source of my frames.

 

This project will continue to expand and provide new avenues of exploration of form. Each piece is handmade and one of a kind. The patterns will be reused but the form will always change. Mirrors, lights, airbrushing, engraving and anything else I can come up with. Thank you for your support and appreciation. Art is nothing without you.
